Post #1: On the Media Podcast

by Demi Colón

The Podcast I found is called “The Brujaja Podcast” by Unpops Podcast Network. I first found it by googling “podcast to listen to” and there was so many options to choose from but what caught my attention was “40 Best Comedy Podcasts to Listen to right now”. Once I clicked that link I read the description to “The Brujaja Podcast” and I didn’t second guess it. I knew it was the one I wanted to listen to because it seems very humorous and relatable and will keep me engaged. It took me a while to find the right one because there’s so many options to choose from so it was a hard decision to even think about what genre I wanted. What made it more difficult is since I’ve never listened to a podcast I didn’t know what to expect from it so I wanted to make sure I found a good one.

The Brujaja Podcast is about three comedians Anna Valenzuela, Vanessa Gritton, and Cindy Aravena who talk about what it was like growing up, Latin issues they’ve dealt with, love, snacks, stereotypes of Latinos, and family. This podcast caught my attention because I’m Hispanic and grew up around the Hispanic culture since I was born. As I’m writing this post I’m listening to their very first podcast on iTunes called “Bienvenidos!” which means “Welcome” in English. So far, their conversation is pretty interesting, funny and very relatable. What I also like about it is that it’s in Spanglish so they speak English most of the time but they say a few words in Spanish from time to time. Most of their podcasts vary from forty minutes to an hour and thirty minutes long. I also noticed that they make about four to five podcast each month so they make them weekly.

Before I started listening to the podcast I wasn’t sure if I would get into it. Since there’s nothing I’m looking at, I didn’t want to get distracted or zone out from the podcast. But they all each have unique voices and are very energetic which is engaging and keeps me listening.
