  • The artist is Bobby Helms, he was an American country singer.
  • First released by him but written by Joe Beal and Jim Boothe
  • He was mostly known after “Jingle Bells Rock” came out.
  • Born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1933.
  • Bobby began his career as part of a country duo with his brother Freddy  
  • They were called “The Helms Brothers
  • “The Helms Brothers” became a regional attraction and were asked to appear on the Hayloft Frolic television show in Bloomington.
  • After that Helms was asked to sing background vocals for an Ernest Tubb session.
  • This then gave him the connections he needed to earn a recording contract of his own.

  • Was released just two days before Christmas in 1957
  • Has been covered by so many artist in the U.S but Helm’s version is the most popular one

  • As he continued to go on tours and make more music, he didn’t get as much success as he did with “Jingle Bell Rock”
  • He died at the age of 63 from emphysema and asthma
  • This song entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts on the week ending December 24, 2016, reaching a peak of No. 29 two weeks later
